Dry Ice Outdoors

Camping
Planning a camping trip like in the good old days; gas lamps, camp fires and a donkey for hot water? Having everything to get warm and planning for the night after dark, but what about my "braaivleis" meat, dairy products and drinks? Dry ice is the solution to cater for all your refrigeration needs!
Plan on using 2,5 - 5 kg dry ice to keep everything (including extra ice) frozen for a 24 hour period, depending on the size of the ice chest. Dry ice will allow you to still have a drink with regular water ice, even in some remote game reserves. Keep non-frozen goods refrigerated with smaller pieces of ice in a separate (bigger) ice chest, which will allow the dry ice to fill the vacant space without reaching freeze point.
Planning a camping trip for a week or longer? Store additional dry ice in a separate container and place in a cool and dry environment.

Fishing
Fishing is an activity which is mostly combined with camping - ensure that dry ice is at hand to keep the freshly caught fish frozen. Therefore, avoid any potential losses on returning home.

Hunting
The most common use for dry ice when hunting, is to preserve trophies and meat. Dry ice is pure CO2 which will displace oxygen from the storage container - it ensures a hygienic environment in which meat and trophies may be transported and also serves as a suitable coolant.

Other
Place a block of dry ice in the garden and mosquitoes will be attracted by it - instead of by you and your guests.
